College Scholarships 2003 |
Once
every year, our scholarship committee meets to consider applications for our
endowed scholarship at Okaloosa-Walton
Community College (OWCC). Our two most recent awards went to
nursing students. The scholarship is based on a combination of
academic performance and financial need. The final selection is made
after an interview with the two or three most competitive applicants.
Through 2003, we have awarded more than $8,000 to 11 students. For
application information, contact the OWCC Financial Aid Office. |

We had the privilege of
presenting Sarah Maton, Ruckel Middle School Student, a $4,400 scholarship
as part of the Okaloosa Public Schools Foundation, Inc. Take Stock in
Children Scholarship Program. The scholarship is for “at risk”
students – the students set up an academic and behavioral contract and if
they stick with the contract, they will have a “full ride” college
scholarship. Cindy oversees the students – 16 this year and Suzie
mentors/meets with Sarah once a week. Dr
Karen presented Sarah the check and President
Ron presented Sarah a Mid-Bay
Banner (with the promise that Sarah would display it in her room). |
